Evaluation copy
Click here to download the evaluation copy of Music Publisher 8.
This program is for Windows 98/NT/ME/2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7.
The evaluation copy of Music Publisher 8 Standard Edition is fully functional but each printout has a gentle rubber stamp indicating the evaluation nature of the program. Also the sound output is limited to one stave or one system.
The program does not have a limited number of runs or limited time to evaluate it.
Personally I hate software which I suddenly find 'timed out' while I was on holiday.
You will need about 40Mb free space on your hard disk to install MP8. Two-thirds of this consists of extensive help and get-you-going
material.
If you've not already seen them then the Audio Visual Demonstrations are worth a look
to see if this is the product for you.
See below for information on evaluating the Scanning Edition.
You may want also to download the MP8 manual, see below.

Not really documentation, but you are welome to download and install it on your computer even if you don't want any other
of our products. It is formatted as a normal Windows Help file.
Click here to download the installation file (350K). When installed an icon is placed on your desktop for ready use. Free,
but don't bother if you have Music Publisher 6, 7 or 8 as it's already included.
Free update for
registered users of Music Publisher 8
Music Publisher 8 latest
version (only for registered users of MP8)
Click here to access our download page
which has instructions on obtaining the latest version of Music
Publisher 8. This is
Free - but note that this download will not work with
the evaluation copy or on computers without a registered version
of MP8 already installed.
Evaluating the Scanning edition
Due to our licensing arrangements with Visiv who wrote the recognition engine, an evaluation copy of the Scanning edition is not available. However the evaluation copy of Music Publisher 8 (see above) contains a simulation of the scanning process taken from an actual scanned sheet.
This enables you to see how the process takes place and compare the results with the original.
If you wish to evaluate the scanning accuracy of your own printed score then you are encouraged to submit to Braeburn
Software a 300dpi 2-colour bitmap (also known as 1-bit color; Line Art; OCR; Text; B&W diagram)
which you have obtained from your scanner. We will then run this through the Scanning edition and return the untouched output
as a Music Publisher file which you can use with the evaluation copy of Music Publisher. We will also attach a PDF file in case
you've not yet installed the evaluation copy.
In this way you can see for yourself the accuracy of the OCR process for the sort of work you are involved in.
You can save the scan in BMP, PCX or GIF format - the Scanning edition can read all those - or any other format as we can convert here.
But do not send a JPG file because these are hopeless for OCR work, they invent and lose data which was carefully found by your scanner.
Send it by email or on floppy disk. (note: if the BMP file is substantially larger than 1Mb then you have scanned in the wrong format: please contact me for help).
The Scanning edition does not claim to interpret hand-written scores, and it is assumed that any scores which you scan are either public domain or you have permission to scan.
